Or, like I said, dump out the contents of the Musicamaster chassis and mod happily away. A lot of musicians want a Champ with a 12' speaker, the quick way to accomplish that is to stuff a Champ chassis in a Musicmaster cabinet. No such problem with the MM two inputs, two knobs, one light. That makes it one of my favorite amps to gut and mod. These amps sound their best cranked up cleans are nothing special to me. The stock Fender speaker is pretty weak, IMHO. I replaced the speaker, the filter caps and other electrolytics, added a fuse and fuse holder, removed the little blue death cap, and rewired the power cord. It was 100 original including the cheap, leaking filter caps. Version 2 has the traditional 6.3 volt light bulb, holder and jeweled lens, as I mentioned. Version 1 uses 6AQ5 power tubes, has the aforementioned neon lamp pilot light and the on / off switch is combined with the volume control, like a 50s TV set. Own one like this Make room for new gear in minutes. There is a simple mod to help give the tone control better range, because that is a weak point for this amp. This Musicmaster bass amp came to me as part of a trade for some amp repair and restoration I did for a friend. There are two and possibly three versions of the Musicmaster Bass amp. Fender Musicmaster Bass (Refinished) 1972 - 1981. The Marshall sits on a Musician's Friend Deluxe Amp Stand, but that's partly so I can see the dang controls better. Guitar Combos Guitar Heads Modeling Amps Small Amps Bass Heads Guitar Cabinets Bass Combos Attenuators Bass Cabinets Acoustic Amps. I may also try an Ampwedge Polyurethane Amplifier Isolation Floor Wedge for the MM. Unless I get several opinions saying the Torres mod is a must-have, I think I'll leave mine stock, too, at least until I "test drive" it some more. (I can clock how fast the cat and dog leave the room for either one. Okay, it's kind of "apples and oranges," but I think I'll do an informal test to see how the 12 watts of the MM compares to the 30 watts of the Marshall. There is a simple slider on/off switch, one knob for volume, one for tone. Laid out simply, the amp produces twelve watts with either 6v6 or 6aq5 preamp tubes. Yep, and like you say, it's kind of a "buried treasure."Įverything else I've owned/used so far has been solid state, and the only one I have that approaches it in size (weight) is my Marshall MG30DFX. The Musicmaster Bass amp is a great way to get good tone from an honest vintage Fender tube amp without needing to take out a bank loan. I just love when I find somthing like this that isn't on everyones "hot list" at the moment! It's a jem. I looked into the mod thing but honestly it sounds great stock.

( B) The mean mitochondrial area, number of branches, length of branches, and mean branch length in the skeletonized mitochondrial network were measured by Mitochondria Analyzer plugin in ImageJ (NIH). The binarized mitochondria were converted into topological skeletons. ( A) Mitochondria and actin filaments were stained by MitoTracker (red) and phalloidin (green). Primary human lung fibroblasts were cultured on soft and stiff PA gels for 48 hours. Inhibition of durotactic migration of lung fibroblasts may play an important role in preventing the progression of human idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis. This represents a potentially new mechanism through which mitochondria may contribute to the progression of fibrotic lung diseases. These findings suggest that energy-producing mitochondria need to be sectioned via fission and repositioned in durotactic lung fibroblasts to meet the higher energy demand. The quantification process is the same for western blot protein bands. Importantly, we found that the DRP1/MFF pathway is activated in fibrotic lung myofibroblasts in both human IPF and bleomycin-induced mouse lung fibrosis. This tutorial shows the process of gel bands quantification in ImageJ. Matrix stiffness–regulated mitochondrial fission and durotactic lung fibroblast migration are mediated by a dynamin-related protein 1/mitochondrial fission factor–dependent (DRP1/MFF-dependent) pathway. Mitochondria polarize in the direction of a physiologically relevant stiffness gradient, with conspicuous localization to the leading edge, primarily lamellipodia and filopodia, of migrating lung fibroblasts. In this study, we found primary human lung fibroblasts sense increasing matrix stiffness with a change of mitochondrial dynamics in favor of mitochondrial fission and increased production of ATP. The mechanically guided fibroblast migration could be a crucial step in the progression of lung fibrosis. Fibroblasts migrate in the direction of greater stiffness, a phenomenon termed durotaxis. Trained clinical fellows and medical residents in laboratory. Pulmonary fibrosis is characterized by stiffening of the extracellular matrix. While it was never widely released in the United States, it did ultimately screen in over 1,000 theaters. Upon release, critics and audiences alike raved about the movie. She novelized the film, her way of taking ownership of the story once again, and published MADCHEN IN UNIFORM as a book in 1933. While Winsloe approved of the final film, she still felt a natural possessiveness towards her story. Artistic director Froelich suggested that the ending be changed from tragedy to something that would be more open-ended. It was inevitable that changes had to be made to Winsloe’s original story. Nonetheless, I liked this unusual play about girls in a Prussian boarding school and made the author’s acquaintance.” MADCHEN IN UNIFORM would be Sagan’s directorial debut and she would later produce the play for the Duchess Theatre in London. In her memoir, Sagan recalls MADCHEN IN UNIFORM “was an original play and true to life, but it was technically rough and amateurish in its dramaturgical structure. Winsloe’s play caught the eye of theater producer and actress Leontine Sagan. She was once married to a Baron then later became romantically involved with two other women writers, newspaper reporter Dorothy Thompson and Swiss author Simone Gentet. Upon the success of her play, Winsloe moved to Berlin and lived openly as a lesbian. Writing the play was her way of processing the trauma of her youth. Playwright Christa Winsloe based the story on her own experience at a Prussian boarding school. There is a kiss between Wieck and Thiele, an exchange of garments, a brief experimentation with gender identity and a passionate declaration of love. Even though it’s a toned-down version of the original play, Sagan’s film is still a notably frank expression of lesbian romance. The headmistress creates an environment that stifles Manuela and her fellow students who find themselves in a fairly delicate stage of their development. In the context of the story, these virtues are seen as old-fashioned and severe, something that the contemporary audience of Germany’s Weimar Republic would have agreed with. The school is run by a strict headmistress, played by Emilia Unda, who extols Prussian virtues of discipline, obedience, restraint and self-denial. Set in a Prussian all-girls boarding school, MADCHEN IN UNIFORM, which translates into “Girls in Uniform,” tells the story of new student Manuela (Hertha Thiele) and her attraction towards her instructor, Fraulein von Bernburg (Dorothea Wieck). Not a single man can be spotted throughout the whole movie. And, the cast was completely made up of women. It was directed by a woman, with an artistic director credit going to Carl Froelich. It was based on a play written by a woman. It’s the first feature film with a solely lesbian theme. MADCHEN IN UNIFORM was special in many regards. This was a flourishing time for queer representation and it ended abruptly with the emergence of the Nazi regime. PANDORA’S BOX (’29), starring Louise Brooks, featured a lesbian subplot. Marlene Dietrich gave the world the first cinematic lesbian kiss in MOROCCO (’30). Movies like DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHERS (’19) and MICHAEL (’24) were born out of that era and candidly depicted gay relationships. This German film came during a time between WWI and WWII when there was a thriving gay subculture in parts of Europe. Director Leontine Sagan’s MADCHEN IN UNIFORM (’31) wasn’t the first movie that featured lesbian characters but it was certainly a notable one. 9/9/2023 0 Comments 28 endview st.e67Foreclosed These properties are owned by a bank or a lender who took ownership through foreclosure proceedings. But he has also become the perfect soldier, there’s no fight in him. There is discontent in him, his face when the Statue of Liberty is torn down, is telling, he is far from happy. Growing increasingly distant to an extent where Helen is no longer sure of who her husband truly serves. Except, he dumps all this squarely on her shoulders. He can see that she’s barely pulling through and doesn’t really do much to help her, save to tell her repeatedly that they must be very careful of how they present themselves because now they’ve been thrust into a position where any misstep might put them all in danger. He can sense that Helen is feeling lonely and isolated and realizes that she reaches out to him, multiple times, and he refuses her every time. Part of it could be that he doesn’t want to cause her more pain but it doesn’t matter because he never gives her that choice. His own pain is assuaged, somewhat, knowing that there are versions of the universe where Thomas is alive and happy. He discovers Thomas in some of the other films, alternate versions of their family, where they’re happy and together. And now John is keeping things from her deliberately, leaving her more and more isolated. But he also stops communicating with his wife, Helen (Chelah Horsdal) It is clear from the earlier seasons that they work best when they work together, but the actions of their son, Thomas, puts them at odds. Don’t get me wrong, he’s still committed to keeping them safe. Himmler got shot shortly after ordering her re-education, so I don’t know if was sent back to Germany or if she’s still in America.įinally, on to John Smith (Rufus Sewell)I think the John Smith we see is getting more and more distanced from his family. I am curious to see if we see her again in season 4. For starters Nicole works for the Reich which disapproves of homosexuality and Thelma is married (albeit to a gay man) She is most certainly outed by the guy she takes over from at the advertising agency, the same guy who gets Thelma out of prison. Her time and relationship with Thelma (Laura Mennell) was always going to be limited. She was sure of her capabilities and didn’t underplay them. I liked Nicole and her take charge attitude. Let me begin by stating that I will forever be grateful that Season 3 gave us quite a few queer characters and at least 1 healthy queer relationship. Next up, Nicole Becker (Bella Heathcote). I keep feeling that Joe and Juliana need closure and they understood each other in a way that she and Frank never did. I know, at this point, we don’t know whether he’s coming back. She killed Joe and left Frank (Rupert Evans) (and I think they both realized that they wouldn’t meet again, which is why he refuses to walk her out, telling her that if he doesn’t then he can pretend she never left) She was finally and that was finally let her travel. I think she was only able to do it because she had nothing holding her back in her own. She ends the season by successfully traveling to another universe. We see her flashback to him after that, letting us know that he’s still on her mind. And she doesn’t immediately deal with it. Juliana has to kill him, thinking that that’s the only way to escape him. There is a reason why he only Juliana what he actually had to do to get out. But he’s so traumatized that he pushes all his soft emotions under lest they pull him under their weight. And he loves her too, even in the fucked-up state, a part of him does love her. At the time, for the first time, we saw that Juliana does care for him and possibly loves him. I loved the Joe (Luke Kleintank) we saw in seasons 1 and 2. The only silver lining? I got the Season 4 trailer shortly after finished the season.įirst off, Juliana (Alexa Davalos).
